New Braunfels River Approved Non-disposable Containers
FIGHT THE CAN BAN WITH STAINLESS STEEL GROWLERS
The Faust Hotel and Brewing Company is quenching the public’s thirst for a way to enjoy a cold brew on the city’s waterways this summer – it has introduced a new stainless steel, refillable growler.
In November 2011, voters in New Braunfels chose to uphold the hotly-contested disposable container ban, which prevents tubers from carrying disposable containers of food and/or drink on the Comal River and on a stretch of the Guadalupe River inside the City’s boundaries. “We know the new ban is going to create some confusion and some cost issues this summer,” says Vance Hinton, owner of the Faust Hotel and Brewing Company. “So we wanted to provide a practical way for people to enjoy a cold beverage while tubing or participating in any outdoor activity.” The stainless steel jug holds 64 ounces of beer or other drink. Each growler can be purchased for $25, and can be filled and refilled with hand-crafted Faust beer for $12.
“I think we’re the first ones to create a container that looks good, works well and is cost-efficient,” adds Hinton. “And because it’s refillable, it’s environmentally-friendly too.” Growlers can be purchased either at the front desk of The Faust, or at the bar.
